Acute Kidney Injury

Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) results from the sudden loss of kidney function. When this occurs, waste products start to accumulate in the blood. AKI may be accompanied by metabolic, acid-base & electrolyte disturbances and fluid overload. AKI may affect other organ systems and may require immediate treatment.

The purpose of AKI management: ensuring the fluid balance, removal of waste products, hemodynamic stabilization, correction of electrolyte abnormalities, restoration of acid-base balance, and nutritional support.

Treatment options for Acute Kidney Injury include the Aquarius system with total fluid loss management.
