2019 starts off in a grand manner for da Vinci surgery in Romania: a new renal transplant marathon at Spitalul Sf. Constantin in Brasov. A remarkable multidisciplinary team of specialists from both the country and abroad, led by Dr. Bogdan Moldovan, will perform surgery on 4 couples in 3 days.
The patients from Chisinau, Iasi, Sibiu and Bucharest will be operated using cutting edge surgical techniques, unique to the transplantation landscape in Romania. Among these is the sampling of the kidney using the da Vinci robotic technique, but also a new technique in premiere in Southeast Europe, the robotic transplantation or RAKT „Robotic Assisted Kidney Transplantation”, in which the vascular sutures and the implantation of the ureter in the urinary bladder will be performed using the da Vinci surgical system.
