Webinar "Bronchoscopy During the COVID-19 Pandemic"

Bronchoscopy is normally one of the basic methods in pulmonology, especially in the case of bronchopulmonary cancer, but the COVID-19 pandemic has made it very undesirable because of the high contamination risk being a major Aerosol Generating Procedure.

We were happy to have recently organized a webinar with Dr. Marioara Simon, Head Physician of the Bronchology Department at the Pneumology Clinical Hospital in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and nationwide participants, which comes to clarify the protocol and general indications in performing bronchoscopies in the context of the pandemic, when it is indicated to perform them and what protective measures for the medical personnel should be applied.

The bottom line and the take-away advice was that “The best bronchoscopists know when not to perform the procedure” (A Mehta, MD, Cleveland Clinic).
