The DaVinci XI 3D-HD Surgical System was awarded the Prix Galien prize in Greece for the category “Best Medical Technology Product”, in a ceremony which took place in Athens on April 11.
The Prix Galien recognize and reward excellence and novelty, and awards special honors to those who have served humanity at large by upgrading the quality of life or even by saving lives through the development of innovative drugs, medical technology and diagnostic tools.
The Prix Galien is a collective effort of distinguished scientists worldwide to promote «the best of the best» innovative drugs and other treatments and for that reason, the Prix Galien is regarded as the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in biopharmaceutical research.
From 1970 onwards, Prix Galien awards are conducted in 20 countries. Greece is the 16th country-member to launch the institution which takes place in this country every two years.
This award comes to convey a very important message: that innovative technologies in healthcare are no longer a luxury, but a necessity for life. and that the contribution of scientists, researchers, patients, healthcare industry, and the society is necessary for creating correct policies for ensuring a better and healthier future for all of us.
And also, this award stands as one of the reasons for us to stay true to our mission of making Life-Saving innovation available to the remotest patient in South-East Europe.
